The Bar & Beverages

Take advantage of our Free House which stocks a good range of cask-conditioned ales including beers from the local CAMRA award winning Ringwood Brewery.

A good selection of lagers and non alcoholic beers are also available from our bar as well as soft drinks and squash for your children. In addition we have an interesting selection of wines, both red and white, available by the bottle or by the glass.

We are open for morning coffee from 10am daily.

History

This traditional Country Inn is set in the heart of the New Forest. 200 yards away stands the Rufus Stone, marking the spot where King William II died, accidentally killed by Sir Walter Tyrrell.

A picturesque pub with spectacular views of the New Forest (which can normally only be seen on postcards), we have numerous seating areas both inside and out, with real log fires for those winter months. The pub has a fantastic garden which backs onto a paddock with ponies and donkeys. We boast the best adventure playground in the Forest with slides, walkways and climbing frames; themed on Walter Tyrrell and the hunting scene of 1100AD.

The Sir Walter Tyrrell caters for the whole family, with a menu choice for the very young through to teenagers, for hungry adults to those with smaller appetites. Food is served throughout the whole pub, with areas suited to that quiet meal or that occasion with larger numbers. You may also dine outside in our extensive beer garden adjacent to the play area, or indeed to the front of the pub where ponies roam freely all day and you will usually see deer in the early evening.

To keep the kids happy, they can enter our colouring competition. The winner is selected weekly and there are a wide range of prizes to choose from.
